Michael G. Seamans' photojournalism career began in 2005 when he traveled with the American Red Cross along the Gulf Coast documenting relief efforts after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita ravaged many southern states.

Before beginning his professional freelance career, Seamans worked as an intern photojournalist for the Baton Rouge Advocate, covering breaking news in Louisiana; the Jackson Hole News and Guide covering the American West; and as a staff shooter for the daily Fort Collins Coloradoan where he documented homelessness, families struggling with the loss of a terminal patient, and poverty.

Seamans is an accomplished photojournalist who has photographed professional sporting events in the National Football League, Major League Baseball, and Division I NCAA athletics.  His work covering breaking news and national presidential campaigns has been recognized in both state and national photojournalism competitions.

Seamans' photos have appeared around the world in print publications and online including in USA Today, the New York Times, the Denver Post, the Rocky Mountain News, the Houston Chronicle and the Sun-Sentinel in Florida, among others. His work has been recognized by the National Press Photographers Association, Colorado Associated Press Editors and Reporters, and the Colorado Press Association. In addition, Seamans' documentary work of a family struggling with homelessness has been included in a national exhibit in our own back yard to raise awareness of poverty in America.

Beyond photography, Seamans served as a wildland firefighter based in Colorado battling forest fires for the U.S. Forest Service and earned a degree in Outdoor Education and Leadership from Sterling College in Vermont. His passion for climbing has brought him to some of the world's most remote places, including the Himalayas of Nepal. Seamans is based in Colorado.
