CAMDEN, MAINE - JANUARY 8, 2018
Ryan Howes, pulls through the 120 degree overhanging ice and rock ice climbing route at Barrett's Cove in Camden Hills State Park, Camden, Maine on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018. Thanks to an unusually wet autumn and a below average month-log cold snap with temperatures consistently below zero degrees fahrenheit created the unusual conditions to form this small ice blob that has not been seen in at least 25 years. Howes is a one in a million climbers with the technical skills and strength to climb such a challenging route that has never before been attempted. (Staff photo by Michael G. Seamans/Morning Sentinel)
